An annual contest at Slippery Rock University is never the same old song and dance because each year “Dancing with the SRU Stars” features new contestants and pairings from the campus community. This year's competition took place in Stoner West Dance Studio Theater on Thursday evening, March 28.
The event is SRU's version of the popular television show “Dancing with the Stars,” featuring students as the dancers, paired with SRU professors and staff members as the “stars.” Instead of a Mirror Ball trophy, the student from the winning couple are awarded a scholarship and their dance partner will earn the title of SRU Star Dancer.
“Dancing with the SRU Stars” is sponsored by The SRU Dance Department and the National Honor Society of Dance Arts SRU Chapter and all proceeds benefit the National Honor Society of Dance Arts Rising Sophomore Dance Scholarship. Funding for the scholarship was provided by donors Deb and Eliott Baker.
