Winfield Township holding community cleanup day April 20

WINFIELD TWP — Residents are encouraged to contribute to the annual spring cleaning event, which is scheduled for April 20. The rain date is April 27.

“We encourage everyone to participate and to tell your neighbors so we can keep our roads clean from all the garbage,” said township supervisor Matthew Klabnik.

The township will set up a dumpster at its municipal building on Brose Road for residents to safely dispose of unwanted items. Residents are also encouraged to scour the township’s road and pick up roadside litter. Gloves, trash bags and reflective clothing will be provided.

“If they want to do roadside cleanup, they can do that and then leave the bags on the side of the road, and the road crew will come and collect that,” Klabnik said.

Not all items will be accepted for disposal in the township dumpster, however. Items that will not be accepted include electronics, tires, batteries and other hazardous materials.
