Dr. Nicholas W. DiCuccio
Dr. Nicholas W. DiCuccio, M.D., F.A.C.S., 81, of Lock Haven, Pa., passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Born July 23, 1942, in Butler, he was the son of the late William and Catherine DiCuccio.
Nick completed his early education in Latrobe, Pa., graduating from St. Vincent Preparatory School in 1960 before obtaining his bachelor's degree from St. Vincent College in 1964. In 1968, he earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia, and spent the following five years serving his internship and residency at York Hospital.
While obtaining his education, Nick also served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1977.
In 1973, Dr. DiCuccio started his medical practice in Lock Haven, where he proudly served countless local patients as a general surgeon and family physician for 34 years, retiring in 2007.
On July 5, 1982, Nick married the former Patricia Allen, the love of his life for 41 years, who survives.
Nick had a passion for hunting big game, both locally and throughout the world. He also loved spending time at his farm hunting pheasants behind his beloved bird dogs, Dolly and Charley.
Always determined, Nick obtained two Eagle Scout awards, held his private pilot’s license, was a life member of many organizations and obtained the status of fellow to numerous medical societies. He was most honored to obtain the level of diplomate of the American Board of Medical Examiners in 1969 and the American Board of Surgery in 1974.
In addition to his wife, Patti, he is survived by his son, Michael (Jane) DiCuccio and their son, Tommy, of Maryland; a daughter, Elisa DiCuccio of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Tammy (Ray) Medred of Dubois; three step-grandchildren, Nicholas Guerriero, C.J. (Haley) Gathagan and Hunter Gathagan; a brother, Dr. William (Margie) DiCuccio of Gibsonia; a nephew, William (Jennifer) DiCuccio of Mars; and two nieces, Tina (Ryan) Baptiste of Florida and Kimberly (Chris) Heckert of New Jersey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Theresa Eiler, who passed away July 5, 2004.
DICUCCIO — A funeral Mass of Christian burial for Dr. Nicholas W. DiCuccio, who died Tuesday, March 26, 2024, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, Pa., with the Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating.
Private entombment will be completed at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Butler.
