The National Weather Service continues to monitor flooding in Butler County, and residents can expect temperatures to drop through Thursday morning, April 4, with frigid weather continuing into the weekend.

Rain showers were likely to continue through Wednesday night, with some “snow slush” expected for Thursday morning, Pittsburgh meteorologist Rich Redmond said.

Except for a dusting of snow in the county’s northern regions, no snow accumulation is expected, Redmond said, because of higher ground temperatures.

Along with some rainfall and light snow Thursday, he said northern residents might also see some light snow Friday morning.

Low temperatures in the 30s and 40s will continue through the weekend, with the weather warming up around Sunday, Redmond said.

The chilly temperatures are due to a large upper level weather system bringing cold air from Canada across the United States.

“It has rapidly intensified over the last day or so,” Redmond said.
