Fire destroys trailer in Connoquenessing Township
Firefighters responding to a call found a trailer in Rolling Valley Estates, at 127 Rolling Valley Lane, Connoquenessing Township, fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.
Lou Zimmerman, chief of Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company, said the responding departments were able to contain the fire and kept it from spreading, but the structure was a total loss. The trailer next door had siding damage from the heat, Zimmerman added.
Zimmerman said firefighters made contact with the man who owned the trailer. Because the structure had been only recently purchased, the trailer was relatively empty, according to Zimmerman.
The owner declined help from an agency, Zimmerman said, despite being offered.
Zimmerman also said the cause of the fire is not yet known and the state fire marshal is not being called to investigate.
Butler County dispatch said a neighbor called in the fire at 6:11 a.m., and firefighters were on the scene a few minutes later. Responders were at the scene for nearly two hours fighting the blaze.
Connoquenessing VFC, Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
Dispatch reported a rekindling at the property at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, and firefighters found a smolder when they returned to the scene shortly thereafter.
