McCandless

Arlene A. McCandless, 90, of Zelienople, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, while under the care of UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Born June 20, 1933, in Zelienople, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Gayle (Groves) Keck.

Arlene was a member of the St. Peter’s Reformed Church in Zelienople. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid walker and enjoyed reality TV. She loved to play gambling games and frequented garage sales. She was a talented artist and liked to attend classes to better her skills. Arlene also volunteered at the Passavant Retirement Community at the Gently Used Shop. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Arlene leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Karen Schomaker (Bill), Diane Robinson (Ray) and Michael D. McCandless (Dianne); Marian Mann, who was like a daughter to Arlene; her eight grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Frederick Hoover of North Carolina; her two nieces; and her nephew.

In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Beth Murray; and her sister, Phyllis Hoover.

MCCANDLESS — Friends of Arlene A. McCandless, who died Saturday, April 6, 2024, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063. Please dress casual.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Arlene will be laid to rest at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zelienople.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arlene’s honor to the Harmony Fire District Volunteer Fire Department, 543 Main St., P.O. Box 516, Harmony, PA 16037.
