Butler County, surrounding counties and states under flash flood warning
Monday’s eclipse may have been Butler County residents’ last glimpse of the sun for some time, if the weather forecasts are to be believed.
Thursday in Butler County was dominated by wet weather, including a flash flood watch which took effect at 2 p.m. As of Thursday afternoon, the flood watch is expected to expire at 2:30 a.m. Friday.
“We’re expecting some strong to severe thunderstorms in some areas later this afternoon and this evening,” said meteorologist Bill Modzelewski of the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
According to forecasts from the National Weather Service, the next seven days should bring little change. Aside from a few glimpses of dry weather on Saturday, April 13, and Monday, April 15, most of the next week will consist of rain.
“It should dry out on Saturday, and then we have some showers and thunderstorms coming back in on Sunday,” Modzelewski said.
However, Modzelewski said the rainfall on Thursday and Friday will be heavier than that expected for the rest of the week.
Temperatures are expected to fall to a high of 49 degrees on Friday and 56 on Saturday, before bouncing back into the low- to mid-70s for the remainder of the week.
“We should get back to around 60 on Saturday, and on Sunday it should go back up again into the mid-70s,” Modzelewski said. “That should last into Monday, and most of next week it looks like mid-to-upper 70s for the highs.”
