Popeyes on its way to Butler Township
The lot at 100 Alameda Plaza soon will be occupied again.
Construction recently began on a Popeyes restaurant in Alameda Plaza in Butler Township — a project that has been in the planning stages for years.
Jesse Hines, zoning officer for Butler Township, said the restaurant is planned to be 1,820 square feet, have two drive-through lanes and inside seating for up to 12 people.
“They started construction and have a 75-day schedule,” Hines said. “Hopefully, by July 1, they’ll be done.”
The township planning commission initially granted a conditional approval of a land development plan in February 2022, for a Popeyes chicken restaurant in Alameda Plaza. The plans called for demolition of an existing building on the property, which used to house a Berkshire Hathaway real estate office, and constructing the restaurant, township officials said at the time.
Township commissioners approved the plan on Feb. 21, 2022. At a meeting Oct. 16, 2023, commissioners said the developers of the restaurant recently had applied for permits to begin construction.
Hines said the restaurant is being developed by Butler Chicken LLC, which he said is based in New Jersey.
Butler Chicken LLC did not return calls for comment.
