Tornado watch in effect until midnight

Butler County and much of Western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia are under a tornado watch until midnight, according to the National Weather Service Pittsburgh.

The service issued a watch Wednesday afternoon, April 17, which said there could be a couple tornadoes within the affected area, with gusts of up to 80 miles per hour. Ping pong-sized hail is also possible, according to the statement.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 8 p.m.

Butler is one of eight Pennsylvania counties under the watch.
