SRU introduces strategic plan
Karen Riley, Slippery Rock University president, unveiled the university’s strategic plan on April 16 during a community assembly on campus, after a nearly three-year planning process.
The strategic plan incorporates four themes, including academic discovery and growth, community impact and collaboration, financial sustainability, and a supportive and inclusive culture.
Among other goals, the strategic plan seeks to improve graduation and student retention rates, incorporate career readiness in coursework, increase student engagement and expand learning experiences.
The plan also seeks to expand community partnerships.
“The University and the community are interconnected,” one of the plan’s action items states. “We will engage with community and industry partners, to listen, learn and share, while working together, to implement innovative, real-world solutions, with reciprocal benefits that address the complex issues of our communities, our economic region and our world.”
The strategic plan will help guide university decisions for the next six years.
The strategic plan and list of steering committee members can be viewed on the university’s website.
