Knoch high, middle schools plan another flexible instruction day

Knoch High and Knoch Middle schools will move classes to a remote setting for the second day in a row after further issues relating to a gas leak in a construction zone outside the schools were found on Tuesday afternoon, April 23.

The high school and middle school students will use a flexible instruction day Wednesday, April 24, while elementary school students follow their regular in-person schedule and will not be affected, according to a Tuesday post from the school district.

Another post from Knoch School District said crews renovating Knoch High School detected a mild smell of gas emanating from the ground Monday, indicating that there was a leak somewhere beneath. They immediately stopped work and notified the gas company, which shut down the gas in the buildings, the news release said.

While the situation does not create a danger to students or staff, the lack of gas service means the high school and middle school will not have heat or the ability to cook, the Monday post said.

Flexible instruction days at Knoch run on a two-hour delay schedule.
