A woman was taken to the hospital following a crash Monday, April 22, on East Slippery Rock Road in Donegal Township, according to state police.

Police said the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. after Brenda S. Mackey, 60, of Chicora, failed to negotiate a hairpin turn.

Documents showed Mackey was driving a Dodge Journey around a bend when she crossed over the centerline and struck a Ram truck driven by Zachary D. Scherer, 21, of Chicora. Police said Mackey’s entire vehicle was in the oncoming lane when the crash occurred.

Police said Mackey suffered a minor injury and was taken to a hospital in Kittanning, Armstrong County, by Karns City Regional Ambulance Service.

Scherer also suffered a minor injury but was not taken to the hospital, according to police.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage during the crash and were towed from the scene, documents showed.

Chicora Volunteer Fire Department assisted on scene.
