Man accused of stabbing vehicle on Butler’s Main Street
A Butler man was accused of stabbing a vehicle on the city’s Main Street on Friday, April 26, according to charging documents.
Sean M. Macfarland, 39, was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief after a heated argument between him and another man driving in downtown Butler.
Police said the driver reported stopping at the Citizen’s Bank on Main Street to retrieve money from the ATM. As he drove out of the parking lot, police said the driver reported that Macfarland yelled at him and started approaching the vehicle.
Documents showed the driver reported that the two exchanged some words before Macfarland brandished a fixed blade knife. As the driver called 911, Macfarland walked behind the vehicle and stabbed it, according to police.
The driver reportedly followed Macfarland as he spoke with county dispatchers, police said. At one point, Macfarland elbowed the driver’s window before police arrived, documents showed.
Police said Macfarland was located on Rattigan Street and was in possession of two fixed-blade knives.
Macfarland’s preliminary hearing is scheduled June 24 before District Judge William Fullerton.
