North’s Rocco named to all-state team

CRANBERRY TWP — North Catholic senior Alayna Rocco has been named a first team Class 4A all-state basketball player by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers.

Rocco averaged 19 points per game this season and scored more than 1,700 points in her high school career. She will be playing college basketball at Harvard.

Brown, Schoeffel combine for victory

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Bird and Grenade, driven by Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown and trained by Steve Schoeffel of Evans City, won a $10,900 Conditioned Trot during harness racing action Friday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 3-year-old gelding is owned by Kathy Schoeffel of Evans City and Four Cousins Stable of Valencia.
