Mars motorcyclist killed Sunday in Forward Township crash
A 29-year-old man died from injuries he suffered after being thrown from his motorcycle during a crash Sunday night, April 28, in Forward Township, according to state police.
Tyler J. Coon, of Mars, was killed after rear-ending a vehicle on Mars-Evans City Road just outside of Evans City, documents showed.
The crash occurred around 9:17 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Documents showed a Jeep Patriot driven by Chad A. Meier, 22, of Mars, was traveling north on the road and missed the turn into Dollar General. Police said Meier turned right onto May Lane to make a u-turn and travel south on Mars-Evans City Road.
At that time, police said Coon was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Mars-Evans City Road at a high rate of speed and struck the back of Meier’s car.
Documents showed Coon was thrown from the motorcycle during the collision and later pronounced dead on scene.
Meier and his passenger were uninjured, police said.
County dispatch reports showed crews were on scene for over four hours following the crash.
Adams Township police, Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Departments, and Quality Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
