The weather on Monday, June 11, 1984, was exceedingly hot, but the climate provided perfect conditions for tadpole hunting.

Jason Sessons and Terry Fedokovitz, both 9, of Butler, examined the denizens of the stream that winds through Alameda Park in Butler Township that day, while on summer vacation from school.

The Associated Press reported that a heat wave blanketed most of Pennsylvania over the preceding weekend, and temperatures were expected to be in the 90s on the eastern end of the state.
