Penn Township police warn residents of bears in area
Penn Township police alerted residents to a mother bear and three cubs that have been seen in the area Monday, May 6.
In a Facebook post, the department asked residents to take precautions and not attract the four bears.
“Be mindful of your pets. Also keep garbage cans and bird feeders in,” the post said.
The warnings come two months after a woman was attacked by a mother bear in her Butler Township backyard.
The bear was euthanized by the game commission and the three cubs who were with her were released on state game lands.
