Severe weather possible today
The National Weather Service Pittsburgh issued warnings for potentially serious wind and thunderstorms that could affect the Butler County region on Thursday, May 9.
According to a post by the National Weather Service, there is a marginal risk for isolated tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday. The risk lasts until midnight for a large portion of southwestern Pennsylvania.
The level 1 risk is mainly south of Interstate 80, but the greatest threat is south of Interstate 70, the service said. The chance for severe wind gusts of at least 58 miles per hour and large hail throughout the region is 5% to 14% across the region.
The service recommends monitoring the forecast.
