Jury finds Allegheny County man guilty in Muddy Creek Township homicide

Daniel C. Lloyd

An Allegheny County man is guilty of shooting and killing an Ohio man in Muddy Creek Township in June 2022, a Butler County jury decided Friday, May 10.

Daniel C. Lloyd, 21, of Pitcairn, was found guilty of homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide following a trial that began Monday at Butler County Common Pleas Court.

The jury set out to deliberate Thursday afternoon before being released at 5:25 p.m. The group reconvened Friday morning, rendering their decision before noon.

Lloyd is to be sentenced by Judge Timothy F. McCune on June 20.

On June 11, 2022, the body of Frederick Orr, 32, of Columbus, was found with three gunshot wounds — two in the back and one in the back of his head — along Kelly Road between East Portersville and Yellow Creek roads.

The Butler County District Attorney’s Office told the jury Lloyd hid in the back of an SUV owned by former co-defendant Nicole Schwartz, 39, of Ellwood City, when she picked up Orr after he was released from the Butler County Prison June 10, 2022. Lloyd shot Orr early June 11 before leaving the body along the road, the prosecution said.

Schwartz also was charged with homicide, but her case was severed from Lloyd’s and has been continued.

This is a developing story.
