Fire rekindles in Marion Township home early Tuesday

Crews were called to a rekindled fire at a home in Marion Township early Tuesday morning, May 14, hours after they extinguished the flames the day before.

Dispatchers reported the call for the rekindle came in around 3:11 a.m. and resulted in a two-alarm response from fire departments in Butler and surrounding counties.

The home had been deemed a total loss Monday after crews fought the blaze from 5:20 p.m. until after 7 p.m.

Officials said the Monday fire was accidental and started in a second-floor bedroom. A cause was not determined.

Traffic was rerouted on West Sunbury Road as crews doused the rekindled flames.

Fire departments from Marion Township, Slippery Rock Township, West Sunbury, North Washington, Eau Claire, Harrisville, Parker City, Pine Township, Springfield Township, Petrolia, Bruin, Unionville, Emlenton and Grove City responded to the scene.
