Memorial Day services planned for Rimersburg

The Shearer-Shick American Legion Post 454 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7132 will host Memorial Sunday and Memorial Day Commemorative Services in Rimersburg.

The Memorial Sunday Service will be at 3 p.m. May 26 at Veterans Memorial Park. Andrew Flowers, pastor of Faith Fellowship Church of Rimersburg, will be guest speaker. Mark Deeter, pastor of Wildcat Wesleyan Church, will have invocation, prayer and benediction. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the Faith Fellowship Church.

The Memorial Day parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the former Rimersburg Elementary School. Marching units are welcome to participate. The program will begin at the Rimersburg Cemetery following the arrival of the parade. Rimersburg Mayor Tim Yeany will provide opening remarks. Baker Street Church of God Associate Pastor Noel Jack will offer invocation, prayer and benediction. The Memorial Day program’s guest speaker will be former Army Chaplain Michael Will of Knox. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held at Union High School.

All veterans are welcome to participate in either event. Any veteran who wishes to participate in the parade but does not wish to march may contact the ommander of the Legion, Charles Brothers, at 814-473-6402 to arrange transportation to and from the cemetery.
