Cleveland-Cliffs sets new greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets
Steel producer Cleveland-Cliffs, which has a presence in Butler County, has announced new greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. The company said it already has achieved its goal to reduce its emissions by 25% by 2030, relative to 2017 levels.
The new goals are for Cleveland-Cliffs to reduce emissions intensity by 30% by 2035, reduce material upstream emissions intensity by 20% by 2035, and reduce intensity of all types of emissions to near net zero by 2050.
Cleveland-Cliffs’ Butler Works is located in the Lyndora section of Butler.
