Sam Glaviano

Sam Glaviano, 74, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away at the James Cancer Hospital on Sunday, May 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 5, 1949, in Butler, to the late Sam and Irene (Maltagliati) Glaviano. Sam was a graduate of Butler High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Army ROTC. He went on to serve in the Army Reserves. Sam retired in 2017 after enjoying a long and successful career with Ketchum & Walton Co. as a manufacturers representative. He found special purpose in mentoring younger professionals and continued to do so well into his retirement years.

He was a former member of the Westerville Jaycees and past president of the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and found great peace and comfort by spending time in the adoration room these last couple of years.

Sam's life was filled with many interests, including a love for travel; golf; daily walks with his dog, Lucy; bocce; his Italian heritage; and music. Sam was the lead singer in his high school and college bands. He had a great passion for music from a young age and it continued to be something he enjoyed throughout his life. Above all, he cherished spending time with his wife, daughter and the many friends he made over the years.

Sam will be deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Chris; daughter, Sara (Nick) Smith; sister, Georgia Smith; and in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and host of longtime friends.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elle Smith; and parents.
