Richard Gray, 83, of West Sunbury, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

He was born in Ford City on Aug. 13, 1940, and was the son of the late Homer and Dorothy (Warner) Gray.

Richard honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from USMC Mechanic School, Pittsburgh Barber College and Youngstown School of Technical Welding. Richard was employed as a construction worker and welder, and he owned and operated Mr. Rich’s Barber Shop in West Sunbury. He was known for being a man of many talents. Richard was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an artist and in his free time you could find him sketching and drawing almost anything.

Richard was the beloved husband of the late Nancy (Christy) Gray until her passing on May 1, 2024, whom he married on Oct. 6, 1969; father of Joseph (Jackie) Gray, Shawn (Heather) Gray, Regina (Scott Pierce) Morgan and Kimberly (Tim Price) Gray; brother of Dorothy “Sis” (Robert) Gray Welsch; grandfather of Ashleigh, Kyla, Evan, Lindsey, Kayla, Conner, Alexa, Bradley, Jessica, Kelsey, Ashley and Sidney; and great-grandfather of Collin, Mason, Paisley, Brinley, Leah, Briar, Mila, Paisley and Rayna.

Along with his parents and wife, Richard was preceded by his brothers, James (Mary) Gray, John (Leanna) Gray, Thomas Gray and Howard (Vicky) Gray.

GRAY — Family and friends of Richard Gray, who died Saturday, June 1, 2024, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. Prayers will immediately follow in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately with full military honors.
