June B. Morrison, 94, of Zelienople, formerly of Sewickley, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community.

Born March 14, 1930, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. Sr. and Dorothy B. (Bowman) Bender.

June was a woman of many interests and did much for the Passavant Community. She worked for Elwin G. Smith as a data processing manager for 32 years. She was part of a traveling debate squad and was a founder of the former concerned citizen forum at Passavant. She was also president of the residents association in Passavant.

She enjoyed playing and teaching bridge. She was part of the American Contract Bridge League, and even brought nationally sanctioned bridge to Passavant. Above all, June was a dog lover. She was very fond of her shih tzu, Winnie, and even wrote a book titled, “Are You As Smart As Your Dog?”

June leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Elizabeth Holland of New York City; her nieces, Rebecca Holland of New York City and Sherry Herman of Victoria, Australia; and her close friends, Leo and Pat Goetz.

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her companion, Ken Peifer, who passed in 1994; her sister, Dorothy Bender; and her brother, Charles H. Bender II.

MORRISON — A celebration of life service for June B. Morrison, who died Wednesday, May 29, 2024, will be held at 2 p.m. June 14, 2024, at the Scholl Auditorium at Passavant, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in June’s honor to the Passavant Benevolent Fund, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063.

Arrangements have been entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
