Man dies in Armstrong County crash Monday
A Clarion County man was killed in a crash in Armstrong County on Monday evening, June 3, according to state police.
The man was identified as Brian W. Ochs, 60, of Sligo, by the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office in a news release.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m. as Ochs was negotiating a left turn on North River Avenue near Bluff Avenue in Parker, according to a news release. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his passenger was taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, the coroner’s office said.
Police said Ochs was driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo north on the road when he lost control and struck a guardrail multiple times, causing the hood to fly open.
According to police, Ochs then crossed over into the opposite lane and struck a Toyota Highlander head on.
Ochs was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the coroner. The coroner’s office indicated an autopsy will not be performed, but toxicology results will be processed and returned in a few weeks.
The driver of the other vehicle was reported to have minor injuries, police said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The crash is still under investigation by state police. Parker City Volunteer Fire Department and Emlenton Area Ambulance Service also responded to the crash.
