Chuhra

Jerome “Jerry” Chuhra, 92, of Renfrew, passed away at Lowrie Place in Butler on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

He was born on July 19, 1931, in Pittsburgh. Jerry was the son of the late Michael and Blanche Chuhra.

He graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1949. Jerry honorably served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bennington aircraft carrier. He retired from Armco Steel in Butler in 1993, after 41 years in the shipping department.

Jerry was an avid reader, loved hunting, fishing, boating and going on casino trips, but most of all loved having family functions.

He was the father of Cindy (Keith) Selfridge, Jerry Chuhra and Darlene Taggart; grandfather of Dale, Brian, Roy, Mark, Ronnie, Brandy, Melissa, Keith, Kolby, Justin, Jeremy and Tara; and father-in-law of Linda Ellenberger and Teresa “Teri” Ellenberger. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren; and his dog, Buddy.

Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria (Watterson) Chuhra, whom he married on Sept. 22, 1964, and who passed away on Nov. 26, 2017; his sons, Larry and Ronald Ellenberger; sister, Joanne Thomas; and brother, Richard Chuhra.

CHUHRA — Family and friends of Jerome “Jerry” Chuhra, who died Wednesday, June 5, 2024, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
