City’s drive for fireworks donations fizzles
Butler Mayor Bob Dandoy said donations for the city’s Independence Day fireworks display are coming in slower than usual this year.
Butler always raises money through donations and sponsorships to fund Independence Day fireworks, which are shot off from Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.
The display will be July 5 this year instead of July 4, because July 5 falls on a Friday.
City council approved a contract with Zambelli Fireworks to supply a fireworks show for up to $15,000 — a cost that is typically funded by donations. Dandoy said excess money collected for the current year’s fireworks is held and put toward the cost of the next year’s fireworks.
