Corinne O’Donnell
Corinne Marie Laconi O’Donnell, of Butler, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100.
Born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Antonia DeFoggi Laconi, who immigrated to Butler from Italy in the early 1900s.
Corinne was a graduate of Butler High School and worked as an ammunition inspector at American Bantam during World War II. Her favorite job was at Jaffe’s, a department store on Main Street in downtown Butler. She sang the blues on the local radio, enjoyed duckpin bowling at the Knights of Columbus, and modeled to her children the importance of community service for nonprofits of numerous causes.
A devout Catholic, Corinne was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, and she found strength in her faith throughout her life.
Known for her impeccable style and exquisite taste, she taught her grandchildren the importance and delicacy of a true Italian family meal. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter where family and friends were always welcome and where memories were made that will be treasured forever.
In addition to her parents, Corinne was preceded in death by her husband, William R. O’Donnell, whom she married in July 1953 and who passed away April 2, 2002; her son, James A. O’Donnell; three brothers, Attilio Laconi, who was killed in action in World War II, Joseph Laconi and George Laconi; and two sisters, Rosina Laconi Long and Lucille Laconi Beatrice.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen (Gayle) O’Donnell of Butler; three sons, William (Sue) O’Donnell of Boise, Idaho, Kevin (Daneen) O’Donnell of Butler and Jeffrey (Jean) O’Donnell of Butler; five grandchildren, Brook Sequete (Chris), Monica Zurawsky (Adam), Fallon O’Donnell, Landon O’Donnell and Bryan O’Donnell; three great-grandchildren, Mila Zurawsky, Jakobe Banks and Leo Phillips; her brother, Regis “Bobby” (Joyce) Laconi; sister-in-law, Lorraine Laconi; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Corinne will be deeply missed by those who knew her, but her legacy of faith and love will live on.
The O’Donnell family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Juliann Monteleone and the dedicated staff at Concordia at Cabot for their compassionate care.
