The Independence Health System’s Advanced Practice Provider Community Engagement Committee is sponsoring a food drive to support the Food Institute in its mission to address food insecurity and support the nutrition needs of the region. The donation drive will run June 17 to 21.
The health system is in need of non-perishable food items such as low-sugar cereal, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, canned beans and canned tuna. They also are in need of non-food items such as can openers, meat thermometers, microwaveable plates, dish soap and paper towels.
Donation bins will be located at various health system facilities, including at Butler Memorial Hospital.
