Storm knocks out power in southwestern Butler County
On Tuesday, crews in Cranberry Township will assess neighborhoods for debris left over from a thunderstorm Monday evening, June 17, after working to respond to widespread storm damage in the area.
Township manager Dan Santoro said the damage led to limited closures of several lanes on roads including Unionville and Franklin roads and Dover Drive. The damage is not expected to affect Tuesday’s traffic.
Some traffic signals were damaged but since have been restored, Santoro said. Further cleanup of roads was anticipated to last another hour, he said shortly before 8 p.m. Monday. The priority, Santoro said, was to clear “at least half a dozen” trees out of the way for motorists.
Santoro said crews responded to the damage immediately after 911 calls came in.
Cranberry residents were alerted with a notice from the township at 5:45 p.m. stating several traffic signals were flashing yellow and multiple downed trees were blocking roads.
As of 7:30 p.m. Monday, 945 customers of First Energy were affected in Cranberry Township. In nearby Adams Township, 3,427 customers were seeing outages, First Energy reported.
