Central Electric anticipates high demand for electricity
Central Electric Cooperative is encouraging customers to “beat the peak” today, June 20, when there is an expected high demand for electricity.
The high demand for electricity is expected from 1 to 7 p.m.
The company encourages residents to conserve power by turning off non-essential electric items and raising the thermostat a few degrees. Additional advice suggests customers shift the use of items such as dehumidifiers, pool pumps and electric appliances to hours outside of the peak period.
“By decreasing electricity used during high-demand periods -- when prices are at their highest — everyone can help stabilize future power costs for all members,” a news release said.
