Frederick Honzo

Frederick “Fred” E. Honzo, 86, of Saxonburg, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

He was born in Butler on May 17, 1938, to the late Joseph and Mary (Uhric) Honzo.

Fred was known for his jovial nature, and he loved his pets, Uhric family reunions and vacations with his family to Myrtle Beach. He enjoyed watching baseball and hockey, especially his son’s Indiana University of Pennsylvania college team. Fred was an avid golfer and loved riding his Harley. He listened to polka every Sunday and was very proud of his Slovak heritage.

Fred was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot. He proudly donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Fred was the beloved husband of the late Marie Honzo, who was the love of his life. They were happily married for 64 years until her passing, less than 48 hours after his, on June 18, 2024. He was the father of Joe (Lee Ann) Honzo and Lisa (Jason) Lassiter; grandfather of Kyle (Raelene) Honzo, Courtney Honzo, Ty (Shayna) Honzo, Alaina Antanaitis and Hope Lassiter; and great-grandfather of Ava Brumbaugh and Jordan Honzo.

In addition to his parents and wife, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Honzo; and brother, Robert Honzo.

HONZO — A memorial Mass of Christian burial for Frederick “Fred” E. Honzo, who died Sunday, June 16, 2024, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot.

Arrangements have been entrusted to SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
