Trooper pulled into vehicle during traffic stop Sunday in Butler Township

A state trooper was pulled into a vehicle as its driver and passenger attempted to drive away from a traffic stop in Butler Township over the weekend, according to police.

Police stopped a Chrysler Sebring around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, June 23, at the Sheetz on Pittsburgh Road.

As a trooper was conducting the traffic stop, police said the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee, pulling the trooper into the vehicle. Police said they disabled the vehicle after it traveled 200 feet, and the driver and passenger were taken into custody.

They were identified as Lamar Bailey, 36, of Youngstown, Ohio, and Kelsey Meyers, 28, of Butler, according to police.

Police said the unoccupied Chrysler then rolled backward and struck a responding patrol vehicle.

That patrol vehicle later had to be decontaminated after one of the people arrested spit throughout the passenger compartment, police said.

Both Bailey and Meyers were found in possession of drugs and were suspected of being under the influence of drugs, police said.
