Martha Papania

Martha Jean Papania, 87, of Zelienople, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024. She was a beloved resident of the Passavant Retirement Community and was under the care of VNA Hospice.

Born Oct. 3, 1936, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late James C. and Mildred A. (Crone) Frost.

Martha was a graduate of Bellevue High School. A former administrative assistant, Martha retired in 1998, lived in Butler with her husband and was an active volunteer and member of St. Fidelis Church. She loved to garden, bake and discover new recipes to cook. She was a good neighbor, and above all, she loved her family dearly. Martha considered her family to be her greatest accomplishment.

Martha leaves behind to cherish in memory her six children, Glenn (Pamela) Papania, John (Patricia) Stambaugh, Tracy (Robert) Hackworth, Susan (William) Collier, Scott (Diana) Papania and Amy (Lawrence) Itri; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Papania, who passed in 2020; and her sisters, Gretchen Frost and Judith Leitsch.

PAPANIA — A celebration of life service will be held for Martha Jean Papania, who died Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at Abundant Life Center at the Passavant Community, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063, with Pastor Freda Snyder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martha’s honor to Abundant Life Center (c/o address above) or to Divine Grace Parish at membership.faithdirect.net/PA279.

Arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
