Cranberry Township police assisting search for man who fled police

A heavy police presence outside of a Cranberry Township hotel Wednesday, June 26, is due to an ongoing search for a man who fled police in Ross Township, according to officials.

Lt. Chuck Mascellino, of Cranberry Township police, said local officers were asked to assist after the man’s vehicle became disabled along the Pennsylvania Turnpike and he was later seen at the Clarion Inn along Route 19.

According to Mascellino, Ross Township police were investigating the man and came into contact with him at Ross Park Mall in Allegheny County. He said the man fled police on foot and left the area in a vehicle.

Franklin Park borough police spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, Mascellino said, but the man continued to flee.

The vehicle eventually became disabled along the turnpike, Mascellino said.

A report came in saying the man was seen in the Clarion Inn shortly after, but according to Mascellino, he has not yet been found. He added the search is ongoing.
