Butler County celebrates the Fourth of July

The following events are taking place in Butler County commemorating Independence Day.

July 2

Butler Area Community Day is from 5 p.m. to dusk at Alameda Park. There will be live music, food, children’s activities and fireworks hosted by Butler County Parks and Recreation and Butler Township. For more information, visit the Facebook event page.

July 4

The Big Butler Fair’s fireworks show begins between 9 and 9:30 p.m. For more information, visit the fair’s website.

Mars is having a “July 4th celebration“ that kicks off at noon with food trucks, vendors and entertainment in downtown Mars, followed by a parade that begins at 3 p.m. Fireworks will be set off at dusk from the west side of town this year, according to the borough’s website.

Zelienople will kick off the Fourth of July with the Get Fit Families Firecracker 5K at 7:30 a.m. at Community Park. A parade will follow at 11 a.m. on Main Street, the borough’s website said.

July 5

Butler will begin its fireworks display at dusk, and they will be set off from Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.

The Evans City Lions Club organized the fireworks for Evans City once again. The fireworks show will begin at dusk on, and they will be shot off from Evans City Cemetery. For the best viewing experience, find a location nearby where the cemetery’s cellphone tower is visible, according to the borough’s website.

July 6

Slippery Rock will have its Independence Day from 4 to 10 p.m. on Main Street. There will be food and music throughout the afternoon, and fireworks begin at 10 p.m., according to the event Facebook page.
