Ken Higgins

Higgins

Ken Higgins, of Butler, left this world on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 7:20 a.m., leaving behind his wife, Sylvia (Krulatz) Higgins; son, Jeffrey Higgins and his wife, E. Gail Higgins; his sister, Mary (Higgins) Seman and her husband, Stewart Seman; and sisters-in-law, Patricia (King) Higgins and Elizabeth Krulatz.

Ken was born to Hugh A. and Bridget (Smith) Higgins on April 9, 1936. He graduated from Butler High School in the Class of 1954. He married the love of his life, Sylvia, on May 31, 1958. Ken was in the Air Force Reserve and was an active member of All Saints Parish, St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church.

Ken was an employee of Pullman Standard until its closing in 1982, and was then instrumental in the founding and setup of Allegheny Axle Co. in the city of Butler, where he continued as plant manager until his retirement in 2001.

In his spare time, he loved boating, spending time at his camp in East Brady and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and the Allegheny Ridge Runner Snowmobile Club. Ken golfed in regular outings with friends at Stoughton Acres and was a league member at Highland Golf Course and an active bowling league member for many years. But his true love was cars — old cars, new cars, classic cars, cars that needed love, really any cars, but especially Ford cars.
