Many of the classic cars of today were just cars in the 1970s, so back then, many of the vehicles populating antique car shows dated back to the 1920s and 1930s.
The Butler Old Stone House Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America was planning its annual antique show and swap meet for the weekend of July 10, 1970, which had categories for cars dating back to the turn of the century.
The oldest car registered by July 8, 1970, was a 1905 Cadillac. The show was free to attend, and organizers expected there to be more than 70 vehicles on display.
