Carl Grecco

Grecco

Carl Eugene Grecco, 90, of Butler, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Concordia at The Orchard.

Born in Butler on Nov. 26, 1933, Carl was a son of the late Cosimo and Mary Seroskie Grecco.

He was the husband of 47 years to the late Loretta Lavorini Grecco.

Carl served with the rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army, being deployed to Korea on June 4, 1953. He was honorably discharged after two years.

He was employed by United States Steel at the Saxonburg Sintering Plant after completing a degree in Mining Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in 1960.

Carl was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He participated as a weekly adorer in the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, former treasurer of the Social Club, former president of the Parish Council, choir member, fish fry helper, funeral altar server and, in his younger days, the St. Michael Softball team in the Butler Area Church League. He was readily available to the pastors who sought his talents and assistance to help the parish.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Carl is survived by his children, the Rev. Robert Grecco, pastor of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, Carnegie, Pa., Vincent (Debbie) Grecco of Butler, and Lisa Grecco of McMurray, Pa. He is survived also by his dear grandchildren, Emily (John) Frasca, of Seven Fields, Michael Grecco, of Butler, and Stephen Pavlik, of Allison Park, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Carl was predeceased in death by his brothers, William, Samuel, John, Edward and Joseph Grecco; and sisters-in-law, Patricia, Gerry, Carolyn, and Joanne Grecco and Patti Lavorini.

The Grecco family sends its appreciation to the staff of Concordia at The Orchard for the compassionate care they provided to Carl during his many years in residence. To the amazing, incredible nurses and staff, both past and present, we are indebted to you for your kindness and compassion. We are grateful, also, for the kind and compassionate staff of Good Samaritan Hospice who attended to Carl during the last few months.

Special thanks is extended to Sister Nancy Schnur, CDP, for regularly visiting with the Eucharist and prayer and for keeping Carl close to the parish family he loved.
