PASSHE aiming to keep tuition frozen for 2024-25

Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education announced on Thursday, July 11 it intends to keep statewide tuition frozen for the seventh consecutive academic year at its 10 member schools, including Slippery Rock University.

PASSHE is requesting a funding increase from the state, which would allow it to keep tuition frozen, and is monitoring the status of Pennsylvania’s ongoing state budget negotiations.

Since 2018, PASSHE’s in-state undergraduate tuition rate has been frozen at $7,716 a year.

“SRU supports the Board of Governors’ intentions to keep tuition at the lowest price possible for our students and their families,” said Justin Zackal, spokesman for Slippery Rock University, in a statement. “Because tuition is approved by the Board of Governors, and all tuition decisions are related to the approval of a state budget, it is too early to project what this means for SRU. Thanks to the governor’s and the state legislature’s support in recent years, SRU has received more money through state appropriations that have helped balance the University’s budget without relying on revenue from tuition.”
