Family identifies victim of shooting at Trump rally in Butler County

A former Buffalo Township fire chief, Corey Comperatore was killed Saturday, July 13 while attending former President Donald Trump’s rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds in Connoquenessing Township.

His daughter, Allyson Comperatore posted on Facebook about Comperatore’s death Sunday, and said her father threw her and her mother to the ground after the shots rang out, shielding them from harm.

“There are a lot of children out there who will say their dad is their hero, but my dad really is mine,” Allyson Comperatore said in the post. “I don’t think I would be here today without him.”

Several other Facebook posts about Corey Comperatore say he was once the chief of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company.

A GoFundMe page for Allyson Comperatore, organized by Jason Bubb, has already garnered more than $88,000 in donations on a fundraising goal of $7,000.

Two other spectators were injured in the shooting and Trump posted he was shot in the upper part of his ear but is “fine.”
