James Kreutz
James “Jim” Willard Kreutz, 89, of West Liberty, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 12, 2024.
He was born in Butler County on Sept. 10, 1934, and was the son to Albert Louis Kreutz and Ruth Dayton Kreutz.
He married Edith Katheryn Edie in November of 1958.
Jim graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1953. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the 4th Armored Division and credits the military for seeing numerous countries. Jim worked his earlier years as a truck driver and barber. He later became an assembler and worked in field service at GE — Grove City until his retirement.
Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was known locally as an excellent golfer and played in various golf leagues. He had the distinction of hitting a hole in one at Shamrock Golf Course in September of 1996.
He loved landscaping and was meticulous in maintaining his property.
He was a Christian who loved the Lord and his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah S. (John) Stanford of Prospect and Dianna L. Schneider of Grove City; daughter-in-law, Barbara Kreutz; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Dennis P. Kreutz; infant son, Donald; daughter, Cynthia Whallin; great-grandson, Sawyer Lott; four brothers; and three sisters.
KREUTZ — Friends of James “Jim” Willard Kreutz, who died Friday, July 12, 2024, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Slippery Rock.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home with Pastor James Roxbury, of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at West Liberty Cemetery.
