Ralph L. Nail, 88, of Hilliards, passed away peacefully at the Caring Place in Franklin on Monday, July 15, 2024, after a period of declining health.

Ralph was born in Butler on Nov. 18, 1935, and was the son of the late Ralph F. and Ruth Boyle Nail.

Ralph was a member and former elder at the East Unity Presbyterian Church in Cherry Valley. He started his career as an excavator with Frank Ross Jr., where he worked for many years. Later, he bought the business and excavated for 62 years before retiring to the family farm in 2012. Ralph taught himself through various experiences and became a master mechanic. Ralph was married to Dorothy Clay Nail on July 15, 1957. She passed away on April 25, 2006.

Surviving are his daughter, Patti (Joe) Lowers of Harrisville; three sons, Robert “Bob” (Drema) Nail of Gulfport, Miss., Kenneth Nail of Hilliards and Ronald Nail of Hilliards; one granddaughter, Samantha; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Parson of Emlenton; one sister in-law, Edith Nail of Hilliards; and various nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Hilliard and Martha Nail McCracken; and one brother, Samuel “Sam” Nail.

NAIL — Friends of Ralph L. Nail, who died Monday, July 15, 2024, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at East Unity Cemetery in Cherry Valley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial in Ralph’s honor be made to the East Unity Cemetery in Cherry Valley, Emlenton, PA 16373.
