Mars DME

The Mars Area School Board made several personnel decisions during a meeting Tuesday, July 16.

The board approved hiring Mindy Bramer for a full-time teaching position beginning in the 2024-25 school year.

Amy Zollner and Melissa Fox were both approved for mentoring positions.

The school board also accepted the resignation of five members of its staff and faculty. The resignations of two paraprofessionals, Marissa Rockar and Amber Naillar, were effective on June 30.

Vanessa Morrow’s resignation as a special education secretary was effective July 6. Jennifer Weber’s resignation as a middle school teacher went into effect Friday. Amber Foster’s resignation as a speech language pathologist will go into effect July 31.

Beverly Mack had her resignation rescinded after being previously approved for a teaching position at the school. She joins the teaching ranks after being a paraprofessional at the district.

The board also made a motion to approve the hiring of Julie Wahl for a newly created position. A former elementary school reading specialist, Wahl will now be the Centennial sixth-grade teacher. Slippery Rock University students Abbygail Crossley and Isaiah Seybert were approved as student teachers at no cost to the district.

The board approved the purchase and installation of new carpet in the high school library for $21,201.48. It also approved a proposal from Voelker Paving for the asphalt paving of Officer Brooks Way for $23,195. Both projects will be paid for out of the Capital Project Fund.
