Car cruise to take place July 20

The Addison of Lowrie Place retirement community will host its annual car cruise Saturday, July 20, at 100 Stirling Place, Butler Township.

The fourth annual Lowrie Place/Rodfathers Car Cruise is free to the public and aims to raise money for the Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department, according to Carol Warner, director of resident programming.

“I do purposeful events, and this is probably the largest purposeful event that we do every year,” Warner said. “Every year has been better. Last year we had about 150 people or more show up.”

The event will start at noon, Warner said, and will conclude around 4 p.m.

She anticipates around 70 vintage cars will show up. Each one will be given a number, and then residents and guests will be able to vote which car is their favorite.

The top three car owners will receive a prize.

Warner said Pat Gallagher will be present playing oldies music. Fairground Market will provide food, and Ice Cream Emergency will provide treats.

“We will have face painting for the kids,” Warner said. “There will be free books from the reading program. There will be the 4-H here with baby goats as well.”

Last year the event raised around $1,400 Warner said, and she said her goal is always to do bigger and better than the year before.
