Cranberry Township secures $36 million loan for Brush Creek facility

Cranberry Township can move forward with its $36 million Brush Creek Water Pollution Control Facility upgrade project because of a low interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, or PENNVEST.

According to township manager Dan Santoro, the project will aim to improve the “solids side” of the plant, where it treats the solids that come from the water treatment process.

“We are very grateful to have secured low interest loan funding through PENNVEST to make this project a reality,” Santoro said.

The loan is for the total anticipated cost of the project, which currently stands at $36 million.

It will not only benefit all the residents of Cranberry Township, but also neighboring communities such as residents in Adams Township and some in Marshall and Pine townships in Allegheny County.

“It's a 20-year loan,” Santoro said. “The advantage is it's low interest. The first five years of the loan is at 1% interest and then years six through 20 are about 1.7% interest.”
