Resolution honoring Corey Comperatore introduced by Kelly
U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, has introduced a resolution to honor the life of Corey Comperatore, who was killed during the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at the rally Saturday, July 13, on the Butler Farm Show grounds in Connoquennessing Township.
As gunshots rang out at the rally, Comperatore shielded his family from the gunfire, ultimately saving their lives, Kelly said in a news release announcing the resolution. Comperatore was 50 years old and leaves behind his wife, Helen, and daughters Allyson and Kaylee.
Comperatore was a 1992 graduate of Freeport High School, after which he served 10 years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He is remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong Christian faith as an active member at the Cabot Church, and as a lifetime member of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department.
More than 70 House members have co-sponsored the resolution.
On the evening of July 22, Kelly honored the life of Comperatore during a speech with other members of the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.
