Francis Rockburn

Rockburn

Francis I. Rockburn, 88, of Harrisville, passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Franny was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Harrisville. He was the son of the late Alfred and Mary Wornick Rockburn.

Franny received his education in Slippery Rock. He was a proud veteran, having enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1956.

Franny was married to Dixie Buchanan on Aug. 14, 1970. She survives.

He retired from Joy Manufacturing in Franklin as a machinist. He had previously worked for Cooper Bessemer in Grove City. He was a member of the Harrisville American Legion, Grove City Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Moose.

Franny loved to go boating and working on restoration of wooden boats. He loved to be on the water and being with friends and family. He and Dixie spent many nights on their motorcycle taking rides. They loved to travel and see new places. Later in his life, he most enjoyed sitting on his porch.

Loved ones to cherish his memory are his wife, Dixie Rockburn of Harrisville; his children, Tim (Lori) Kamerer of Grove City, Todd (Susan) Rockburn of Forestville, Joe (Wendy) Rockburn of Grove City and Kim (Matt) Alfreno of Butler. Franny’s 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two children, William and Marcy; and his sisters, Barb, Joan, Billy and Carol.
