Burnedette Gertrude (McDowell) Carlson, 98, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Highlands of Wyomissing.

She was the beloved wife of Thomas Wesley Carson, with whom she shared over 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2016.

Born in Butler, she was a daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Oesterling) McDowell. “Bunny” was a member of the Lincoln Park Community Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, book clubs and volunteering her time. She never missed a holiday and will be forever celebrated and remembered for her vibrant colors, lapel pins, handkerchiefs and love for banana splits!

Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Candace Davis, wife of Mark, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; granddaughters, Taylor Steege (Trevor) and Madison Lytle (Casey); grandsons, Logan Davis (Kendra) and CJ Davis (Samantha); and nine great-grandchildren, Brantley, Brooklyn, Houston, Callaway, Scarlett, Kennedy, Landon, Baker and Brynn.

She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

CARLSON — Services for Burnedette Gertrude (McDowell) Carlson, who died Friday, July 26, 2024, will be held privately in Arizona at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lincoln Park Community United Methodist Church, 1 Carlisle Ave., Reading, PA 19609.
